Okiwi Bay
A short drive from Nelson lies Okiwi Bay with probably the most popular boat launching site for the Nelson diver. From here good diving is at all the points up to and including Okuri Point. Anywhere along the west side of D'Urville offers excellent diving with Port Hardy and Stephens Passage (very experienced divers only), offering the best diving in the Nelson area. Visibility can be up to 20 m and the life for photography is excellent. Crayfish can be found in most places with an excellent supply of fish. The best time of year for crayfish is December through to April. Kingfish are around about this time, with a favourite spot being Peigh's Rock, between Chicot and D'Urville.
